4 months agoTony is my barber here and he knows his stuff. As he himself says, Tony makes you handsome. Make sure it is Tony who cuts your hair. I went to someone else coz Tony was busy and she scratched and cut the back of my head multiple times. It was hurting all day. Also the top of my head wasn’t cut with equal lengths.3 months agoI am new to the area, so I was looking for barbershops nearby. They mentioned that they accept walk-ins and there were quite a good number of reviews of them over here. So, I visited them hoping for a good haircut. I went in at 2:40PM. The place wasn’t too crowded, but it was fine. There were a respectable number of stylists, so I thought I could have a haircut within the hour. But that couldn’t have been further from the reality. Some of their stylists were just relaxing and waiting for customers who had taken an appointment, which is fair. But on many instances, they would sit around for 30 minutes, time which could have been utilized for attending to a walk-in customer. At 3:36PM, I got frustrated at this behavior and when I stood up, I was told to wait for 30 minutes because another customer with an appointment showed up. So, I just walked out. I’ll never visit them again. As great as they may all be, making a walk-in wait for over an hour isn’t efficient or nice.
Oh, and I also want to mention they don’t accept card, google pay or apple pay, it’s all cash. It’s not a major thing, but just something you might want to keep in mind.
2 months agoThis was my first time there after about living through barber trial and error in Alexandria. I loved the cut and I barely waited 20 mins even though I was a walk-in on Friday. I loved the attention to detail from Tony and can’t recommend him enough. He took his time and was courteous. I’ll definitely be going back, and making appointments from now on.3 months agoA very reasonable price and they always do a good job. I have received more compliments on my hair after going here than any other shop. They also do a great job with the warm towels, eyebrow shave and razor blade cleanup in back. All the staff are nice so definitely recommended.in the last weekA great haircut with a professional who knows how to make my hairstyle perfectly. I was able to select my appointment in advance. They are the best in this area

6 months agoI cannot recommend Kirk and Ultimate Barber enough. Been going here for years and I NEVER walked out with even a mediocre haircut. Always fire. Always got compliments. Always unwavering quality and cool people. All for an incredibly reasonable prices. Make this place your barber and you won’t regret it.4 years agoI’m not sure if my barber, John H., was simply tired or being negligent that day but this is one of the worst haircuts I have gotten in my life. Since this place had great reviews, I assumed all of the barbers would be great. I am sure that John is talented too but this type of negligence and inconsistency is what makes a great barbershop a regular one. I will definitely not be going back.In response to the owner: Negligent and inconsistent of the haircut as you can see from the photo. This is not a phony review, I obviously want to remain anonymous. I’m not stating that the barbers nor the barbershop is terrible, I am simply describing my experience. Instead of discrediting the negative reviews, I suggest learning from the feedback to improve the overall quality of your barbershop.
a month agoVery accommodating and quick service. Both John and Kirk were very professional and provided a quality service.a year agoKirk was very helpful and made sure to explain to me and my son what he was going to do and how to maintain my son’s natural waves. I thank Kirk for his kindness and professionalism. We will be regulars.a year agoThis was my first experience with a VA barber shop, since I just moved from NJ. At first I was extremely nervous because before I moved I noticed VA had a huge lack of old school barbershops that weren’t chains. People from VA know what I mean, no old school barbershops but I finally found one. After a lot of research and reading reviews I come across this shop and a gentlemen name John, I decided to give it a try.
I came in and was greeted right away. Got right into the haircut and instantly knew I was going to be okay. After the haircut was finished, I have now found a new shop. The fade was perfect, my beard was lined up, and conversation was great. If you need a barber give this place a try and ask for John.

a week agoMy recent visit left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. I walked in with hopes of a fresh haircut and a neatly trimmed beard, but unfortunately, the experience fell far short of my expectations. From the moment I sat down in the chair, it was evident that the barber had no intention of asking about my desired haircut style or beard shape. Without any consultation, she started cutting my hair, and it became apparent that she lacked the skill and attention to detail that I expect from a professional barber.
4 months agoI’ve gone to several Floyd’s locations and have a positive experience at all. As a woman with short hair, I appreciate that they have skilled barbers and stylists who are able to cut my hair exactly the way I want it at a much lower cost and shorter appointment than a salon. The Alexandria Floyd’s location had some staff turnover the first few months I came, which was frustrating because every time I found a stylist I liked they would leave. However, I’ve now found Cece and she is terrific. Cece has given me a great cut every time. She’s good at communicating about my hair and remembering my style. I also enjoy chatting with her. I hope she never leaves!5 months agoI just finished a haircut at Floyd’s and it’s my favorite in a long while. Despite losing a lot of volume, my hair feels and looks thicker, not to mention more stylish too. My barber was Cece and she seemed to intuitively understand my hair. She pinpointed the same issues that frustrate me, then devised an appropriate approach to deal with them, as well as recommending a few products (one of which I ended up purchasing cause it worked so well). Nice experience, and I’ll definitely plan to be back.4 months agoThis is the best barbershop I’ve ever been to which is due to the incredible service provided by Cece. Every time I get a haircut, I make sure to request her because she’s very professional, kind, and gregarious. My hair is very difficult to cut and maintain, but she not only gives me an amazing haircut but also goes out of her way to ensure that it’s styled exactly the way I want it. I can’t recommend her highly enough! If you’re considering getting your hair cut at Floyd’s, not only should you definitely do it, but also make sure to ask for Cece!4 weeks agoSome of their hair stylists do not know how to properly use thinner scissors and scissors. Instead of telling you so, they will mess up your hair. Even if you tell them exactly what you want and to not use the trimmer or clips on you because you want ypur hair cut wit scissors. I got my hair messed up and a whack hair cut by the blonde lady with many tattoos. I didn’t notice until I washed my hair and got all the hair putty/jelly off it. Had to go to another barber shop to get it fixed. Unacceptable!

What to Consider When Visiting a Barbershop in Alexandria VA

When going to the barbershop in the United States, there are several factors to consider in order to have a positive and satisfying experience. These factors include:
- Location: Choose a barbershop that is conveniently located and easily accessible to you. This will save you time and effort in traveling to and from the barbershop.
- Reviews and Recommendations: Look for barbershops with positive reviews and recommendations. This can be done by asking friends, family, or colleagues, or by checking online review platforms such as Yelp or Google.
- Services Offered: Consider what specific services you require from a barbershop. Whether it is a simple haircut or more elaborate grooming services, make sure the barbershop you choose offers the services you need.
- Barber’s Expertise: Learn about the barbers working at the shop and their expertise. Look for experienced barbers who have a good track record in providing quality haircuts and grooming services.
- Cleanliness and Hygiene: Ensure that the barbershop maintains high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. This includes clean tools, sanitized workstations, and overall cleanliness of the shop.
- Atmosphere: Consider the overall atmosphere of the barbershop. Some people prefer a relaxed and casual environment, while others may prefer a more upscale and formal setting.
- Price: Compare the prices of different barbershops and determine if they fit within your budget. Keep in mind that higher prices do not always guarantee better quality, so it’s important to find a balance between quality and affordability.
- Appointment Availability: Check if the barbershop allows for appointments or if it operates on a walk-in basis. Depending on your personal preference, choose a barbershop that aligns with your scheduling needs.
- Customer Service: Take note of the customer service provided by the staff at the barbershop. Friendly and professional staff who prioritize customer satisfaction can greatly enhance your experience.

The Ultimate Guide to Men’s Haircut Prices in the U.S
When it comes to getting a haircut, many factors influence the price you’ll pay, especially in the United States. While the average cost of a men’s haircut hovers around $29, this number can fluctuate based on various considerations like your location, the expertise of the stylist, and the complexity of the haircut you desire. This comprehensive guide aims to break down these variables and offer tips on getting a quality haircut without breaking the bank.
One of the primary factors affecting the cost of a haircut is the location. Whether you live in an urban, suburban, or rural area can significantly impact the price you’ll pay at the salon or barbershop.
Average Cost of Men’s Haircuts by Location
| Location | Average Cost Range |
|---|---|
| Urban areas | $30 – $40 |
| Suburban areas | $25 – $35 |
| Rural areas | $20 – $25 |
As evident from the table, haircuts in urban areas tend to be the most expensive, with prices potentially going even higher in high-end salons in major cities. In contrast, rural areas offer the most affordable options.
