5 months agoCame here for a walk-in without much idea of what I wanted done. Devrin was patient and worked with me to figure it out and did a great job. Very respectful and professional!7 months agoGreat customer service, Quality cut, No complaints!a year agoI made an appointment to cut my two brown boys’ hair 5 and 9 years old, and I was very pleased with the service. The haircuts were really great, but most of all, the environment was safe for kids. There was no inappropriate language or behavior, and I felt that my children were in a good place. The owner treated us with respect and professionalism! I will definitely be using this place going forward.a year agoEvery time I went here for my son it was nothing but respect to us. There was a time when I needed to get my son hair cut and at the moment they were technically close but the owner still took the time and effort to cut my son hair. He did a awesome job. Thanks so much. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️7 months agoHad a great experience at Champion Barber Shop! Black owned, great customer service and very clean! Look forward to going back.

3 months agoCame with my husband. His hair was like a top hat. They were as confused as I was on how to get rid of that thing but they were very kind and courtesy. They did a great job and now I see my incredible handsome husband’s face and head again. Came with a commentary beer! Would definitely recommend this barber shop to anyone. Will go back again!!!5 years agoFor any men that wants to look sharp and classy I recommend you to come and visit Professional Barber Shop in downtown Hartford, it’s a great place to get a real gentleman’s hair cut and a straight razor blade shave with hot towels just like our grandfathers used to do and unlike mall hair cut parlors this place is really a gentleman’s place to treat yourself just like your wife and or girlfriend do when they go to get their pedicure done. As you wait you get treated to a cold drink, great music and if you’re a suit then you can get your shoes shined just like back in the good days. Check them out, I’m sure that you’ll visit them again.P.S. At the end of every cut you get treated to a nice shoulder rub so you can walk out of the shop looking refresh and feeling relax.
2 months agoJust got a great haircut from Lisa! Very friendly and a great conversation! Also recommended some awesome lunch spots nearby! Will return next time I’m in town!3 months agoThey always have open appointments, and I have never not liked a hair cut I have received. The pricing is also fair and reasonable.8 months agoI typically don’t take the time to write reviews but I am this time due to one of the most extreme and disheartening experiences I have ever encountered as a 25-year old woman of color. To preface — this is my local barber shop. I recently moved to downtown Hartford from New York City for a job opportunity and began getting haircuts from Q which was always a good experience. This morning, I walked into the barber shop around 8:00am and saw a middle-aged woman with burgundy-colored hair (she was the stylist) and her client in the salon. I politely asked the woman “may I use the ATM?” since I wasn’t going to be getting a haircut, and she stared at me a bit blankly. She then accidentally dropped a broom, and when I went to pick it up for her, she yelled “GET AWAY!”. I was completely shocked and taken aback she felt comfortable yelling, simply for me being polite to pick up the broom — treating me almost as if I was a homeless person or common thief. I said “I’m sorry miss? I was just going to pick that up. I didn’t mean to startle you by reaching for the broom” She then yelled again and said “JUST USE IT! and pointed at the ATM. I apologized once more and she interrupted and said “JUST USE IT! WE’RE CLOSED BECAUSE THIS IS A PRIVATE APPOINTMENT, BUT JUST USE IT!” I used the ATM because I could barely process what happened and how I was treated, especially as a young woman of color. Question for this business: If the lights were on, a client was in a chair, a stylist was present, and the door was open with no sign, how would a patron know the shop was closed? Or that it was a private appointment? I felt extremely shocked and even hurt because the woman is a middle-aged white woman, yelling at me as if I were an animal and not a paying patron of this business who has supported this establishment with my own money and have tipped Q generously whenever I was there. The man in the middle-aged woman’s chair also appeared shocked and even embarrassed, as he gave me a look of sorrow and then looked down in silence. Once I used the ATM, I immediately left feeling extremely uncomfortable and confused. The woman followed behind me and then locked the door as soon as I walked out, almost like kicking an animal out of a house — all because I used the ATM and tried to pick up the broom that fell since I was raised with manners. Is it normal for this establishment to profile people of color as intruders and feel comfortable yelling at them? Has your staff been trained in any diversity and equity modules? Is it normal for your staff to host private appointments and when a patron walks in, to say “we’re closed, this is a private appointment,” even though it was 8:00am (an average business hour), the lights were on, and the door was unlocked? And with no sign? I do not know who this woman was, but it has left a scar on my heart to know I was treated so poorly at my local barbershop. I have never been yelled at by any barber professional in my entire life. It is safe to say I will no longer be attending this shop, which is sad since I am so nearby in my neighborhood. I beg of the shop owner — please train this woman in a) proper open and close signage if she is having private appointments outside of the shop’s business hours, b) never to yell or point at patrons like they’re an animal and c) to treat all individuals, especially those of color, with dignity. I also implore the owner to view the video footage at 8:00am on 12/30/22 to see and hear this woman yell at me. For the people of color in the Hartford community, please consider not supporting this business until they accept responsibility for the harmful space the woman in their staff created for a young person of color. I am reflecting on how scary this experience was, and still have so much fear thinking about it.

a week agoCouldn’t find a barbershop but they took me with no appointment and right away I will be back for more in the future and the haircut was pretty good thanks a lota month agoI just brought my 15 year old son here for a hair cut. He showed the guy the picture of what he wanted. It wasn’t much. My son has long hair. He only wanted about 2 inches off. He HACKED my sons hair!! It’s so uneven, it’s extremely short and he has a chunk missing from his left side. It looks like an uneven bowl cut. My son tried to talk to him throughout the process but the guy they put him with didn’t speak English. A guy tried to translate but apparently it didn’t matter. If you’re not going to follow the picture or you’re not comfortable with what you are doing, don’t cut someone’s hair. He’s extremely upset! Don’t go here.2 months agoThey are fast. There is no hangout. Clean. And they accept walk in.7 months agoGreat Shop they took care of me as soon as I walked in other times it’s not a long wait, Barbers are good as wella year agoWaited an hour and a half and four people went in front of me that I was signed in before not sure if it’s because I was a white guy or not …sure seemed it. I helped the cashier move a desk for him , sat patiently and quietly, Very upset, left on my own , never got a cut. Never again.

What to Consider When Visiting a Barbershop in Hartford CT

When going to a barbershop in the United States, there are several important things to consider. These factors can greatly affect your overall experience and satisfaction with the haircut you receive. Here are some key points to keep in mind:
- Research Barbershops: Before choosing a barbershop, it is recommended to do some research. Look for reviews and ratings online to get a sense of the quality of service and customer satisfaction.
- Consider the Location: Choosing a barbershop that is conveniently located can save you time and hassle. Look for a shop that is close to your home or workplace to ensure easy accessibility.
- Look for Experienced Barbers: Experienced barbers are more likely to provide quality haircuts. Check if the barbers at the shop have proper training and experience in the specific hairstyle or cut you desire.
- Discuss Your Haircut: It’s crucial to communicate with your barber about the specific style or cut you want. Clearly explain your preferences and show reference pictures if necessary. This ensures that both you and the barber are on the same page.
- Consider the Environment: The atmosphere of a barbershop can greatly affect your overall experience. Look for a shop that has a clean and comfortable environment, as well as a friendly and welcoming staff.
- Check for Hygiene Practices: Hygiene is important in a barbershop to prevent the spread of infections. Make sure the barbers use clean tools and follow proper sanitization practices.
- Consider Pricing: Consider the pricing of the barbershop before making a decision. Some barbershops offer different tiers of services at varying prices. Find a shop that offers quality service within your budget.
By considering these factors, you can ensure a positive barbershop experience and receive a haircut that meets your expectations.

The Ultimate Guide to Men’s Haircut Prices in the U.S
When it comes to getting a haircut, many factors influence the price you’ll pay, especially in the United States. While the average cost of a men’s haircut hovers around $29, this number can fluctuate based on various considerations like your location, the expertise of the stylist, and the complexity of the haircut you desire. This comprehensive guide aims to break down these variables and offer tips on getting a quality haircut without breaking the bank.
One of the primary factors affecting the cost of a haircut is the location. Whether you live in an urban, suburban, or rural area can significantly impact the price you’ll pay at the salon or barbershop.
Average Cost of Men’s Haircuts by Location
| Location | Average Cost Range |
|---|---|
| Urban areas | $30 – $40 |
| Suburban areas | $25 – $35 |
| Rural areas | $20 – $25 |
As evident from the table, haircuts in urban areas tend to be the most expensive, with prices potentially going even higher in high-end salons in major cities. In contrast, rural areas offer the most affordable options.
If you’re searching for affordability, chain salons and barbershops are good alternatives. Students can often take advantage of discounts to further minimize costs.
