2 months agoI was a “don’t care” hair gal until about a year ago when I decided to take better care of it.After searching for a salon that felt good, I ended up at Public Barber. I love the casual, literary-curated vibe of the place. The music is always so on point. I also love it’s a mix of ages and genders sitting in their chairs. Everyone working and visiting is a mix of cool but not too cool which makes them really cool.
I first saw Sage for cut and color until she went on maternity leave (she’s back) then I began seeing Melina. They are both very low key, chill women who are talented stylists.
After realizing I forgot to make my next appointment, I needed to get one the same week. I scheduled Aubrey, confident she’d be able to follow in Sage and Melina’s footsteps. Currently sitting in her chair and after meeting her, I’m even more confident.
Public Barber makes taking care of your hair easy. Their app is great. Their checkout is simple with your card stored on file. The products that have been suggested to me (I’m a skeptic of in-salon products and if I really need them) have been spot on.
Thanks for making a once anxiety-inducing task become something I look forward to!
2 weeks agoSage at Public Barber always does an amazing job cutting my hair! She understands what will look good for your specific hair type and texture and makes sure you’re on the same page before the cut. I always walk away feeling so good and confident with my new style. Thank you!3 months agoWith someone as knowledgeable, talented, and artistic as Melina all you need to do is show up on time. Once there you can trust that she will take all your facial features into account and construct a haircut better than you could possibly have asked for. I can also say if you are looking to get a beard trim, you are in very very good hands with Melina. If your looking for someone who will get the very best out of your hair and beard look no further than Melina!
3 months agoDaniel cut about 8 inches off for me and styled my hair very well! I am always nervous going to a new stylist due to my long and very thick hair but Daniel knew exactly what to do and was great at conversation during the long appointment. Thanks a ton!5 months agoI have been seeing Audrey for many years, and she absolutely never disappoints. She is a total class act from start to finish, always greeting and engaging me with a smile, and sending me off feeling and looking like a million bucks. She’s personable and warm, all the while delivering the most technical, detail-oriented cuts I’ve ever received. She listens to what I want, while always providing excellent recommendations and ideas. I’ve tried so many different looks, and no matter what, Audrey nails them with precision and style. I cannot recommend her more!

a week agoFirst time here. After explaining the trim I wanted and saying “too short is my nightmare,” the master barber I booked got started. I thought we were on the same page until he turned my chair around so I could see the back in the mirror. Definitely my nightmare as my hair is the shortest it’s ever been. I was assured by the barber that I wouldn’t lose too much length, and yet here I am.He could have salvaged things *slightly* by debulking my longer hair on top, which he offered to do, but I started the appointment saying only sides and back. I couldn’t justify going against an explicit request to fix the rest of the cut which already had gone against my explicit requests. I figured I should just stop the bleeding as I wasn’t willing to risk it going any more wrong. The back of my head looks pretty ridiculous.
One star for him being kind and considerate and the other because he declined a tip as he knew I was unhappy with the result.
2 weeks agoI’ve made my first appointment here with no expectations, just was looking for a haircut because it was way too long since the last one I had. I’ve tried so many places in the city but nothing really worked, so I kept searching. Well, I am definitely coming back and soon! Dorothy helped me get from a wild overgrown bush to looking sharp. Cherry on top was guiding me through how to maintain the hair, products and styling techniques.3 months agoA relaxing, pleasant shop. I have gone to Luis for a cut and shave for a few years now. I have never gotten a better shave! I am disabled and can’t shave myself. There is a joke sign that says they do tooth extraction. Probably barbers once did. If I needed that, I would trust Luis for the job. Gentle, expertly precise. All the other barbers seem really great too. Just Always a great experience.3 months agoI cannot say enough great things about my experience at Gents! When you walk in you’re offered a drink, which they have different whiskeys and rums on rotation. I had Dorothy-Anne, who was so personable and you can tell has such a passion for her craft. I mentioned what I normally get for a haircut and she executed to a T and even offered a recommended style change which I hadn’t considered and I loved it! She wrapped it up with a facial and a straight shave which had my face feeling 5 years younger! I cannot recommend her and Gents enough!a year agoIf I could leave 6 stars, I would. Medardo gave my boyfriend the best haircut he’s ever had. He recommended something new for my man and executed the look perfectly. The level of service at this place is also amazing without any feeling of pretentiousness. The barbers are friendly and my boyfriend was offered (and he accepted) a dram of whiskey or two while he had his haircut.
The environment was filled with timeless vintage decor and furniture. Even the barber chairs were vintage to give that wonderful, welcoming old school neighborhood barber vibe.
Definitely recommend!

Jonny is so cool guy and he really got smooth hands and even made me a discount since I’m new to the town. Thank you Jonny for this beautiful experience and will definitely come back. Highly recommended.7 months agoDo yourself a favor and get a trim with Johnny. Friendly, warm, down to earth and honestly just a fantastic barber. He is truly a master hairdresser and stylist. Good job bro, gonna go show my roommate3 months agoThe chillest environment and dopest people. I waited 5 years since moving from Philly for someone I trust to cut me since I couldn’t get cuts from Oscar in Chinatown anymore. Top-Rated Hair Care Products Every Man Should Own

When it comes to hair care, men have unique needs and preferences. Whether you’re looking for a product to style, nourish, or maintain your hair, there are several options available that can help you achieve your desired look. Here are some of the best hair care products for men in the United States:
- Pomade: Pomade is a versatile hair product that provides a medium to strong hold and a shiny finish. It’s perfect for creating classic, slicked-back styles or adding texture and definition to shorter hairstyles. Look for water-based pomades that are easy to wash out and won’t leave your hair greasy.
- Clay: For a matte finish and a flexible hold, clay is an excellent option. It works well for adding volume and texture to fine hair and can be used to achieve messy, textured styles. Clay is also suitable for men with curly or wavy hair who want to enhance their natural texture.
- Conditioner: While shampoo is important for keeping your hair clean, conditioner is essential for nourishing and hydrating your strands. Look for a conditioner that is specifically designed for men’s hair and targets your specific hair type and concerns, such as dryness or dandruff.
- Beard Oil: If you have facial hair, beard oil is a must-have product. It helps to hydrate and soften your beard, making it more manageable and less prone to itchiness and irritation. Look for beard oils that contain natural ingredients, such as jojoba oil or argan oil, that will condition your facial hair without weighing it down.
- Styling Cream: Styling cream is an excellent option for men who want a natural-looking finish and a light hold. It’s great for adding texture and definition to longer hairstyles and can also help tame frizz and flyaways. Choose a cream that is lightweight and won’t leave your hair feeling heavy or greasy.
Remember that everyone’s hair is different, so it may take some trial and error to find the best hair care products that work for you. Experiment with different brands and formulas until you find the perfect products that help you achieve your desired style and keep your hair looking healthy and well-groomed.

The Ultimate Guide to Men’s Haircut Prices in the U.S
When it comes to getting a haircut, many factors influence the price you’ll pay, especially in the United States. While the average cost of a men’s haircut hovers around $29, this number can fluctuate based on various considerations like your location, the expertise of the stylist, and the complexity of the haircut you desire. This comprehensive guide aims to break down these variables and offer tips on getting a quality haircut without breaking the bank.
One of the primary factors affecting the cost of a haircut is the location. Whether you live in an urban, suburban, or rural area can significantly impact the price you’ll pay at the salon or barbershop.
Average Cost of Men’s Haircuts by Location
| Location | Average Cost Range |
|---|---|
| Urban areas | $30 – $40 |
| Suburban areas | $25 – $35 |
| Rural areas | $20 – $25 |
As evident from the table, haircuts in urban areas tend to be the most expensive, with prices potentially going even higher in high-end salons in major cities. In contrast, rural areas offer the most affordable options.
If you’re searching for affordability, chain salons and barbershops are good alternatives. Students can often take advantage of discounts to further minimize costs.
